Mind the Gap

Is it Friday yet? Or, at least, "Office" Thursday?

I've been working on a project since yesterday, and it is causing my eyeballs to hemorrhage. Five hours in, and I'm only coming to the end of the first part. I'm printing the notes for the 2nd part as I type this, and it's coming in at a whopping 78 pages. Shoot me now.

Making it worse is the fact that we had a "cold front" come through and the last two days have been spectacular fall weather - temps in the low 70s, blue skies and slightly breezy. Yeah. I get to watch it all from INSIDE, which living in FL, is where I spend most of my time because it's SO... FREAKING... HOT. Guess I'll open the windows so I can get a taste of what it's like.

In other news, we had our first rehearsal Monday night. I got a part! Not a big one, but hey, four lines with Scrooge is something, right? I play a street vendor that Scrooge is trying to collect money from before he sings "I Hate People". LOL! And I'm in the "Thank You Very Much" scene where Tom Jenkins is dancing on Scrooge's coffin during his 3rd ghost visit. We all get to dance around & sing in that bit. Should be lots of fun!

The hard part is finding appropriate costume. I've been scouring the internet and can't come up with much that isn't the dressy Victorian style of that day. Doubt my street lady would be wearing that! It would be helpful if I knew how to sew. Maybe a trip to Goodwill is in order.

I'm so nervous!

T-minus 11 hours and counting before the Scrooge! audition.

I'm planning to sing "Sally's Song" from The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack.  Totally unsure of what they expect to hear, because I've never been in a musical before.   But finding a one minute excerpt of anything is difficult.

Deep breaths....

Seems like "Old Times"...

Alan's newest co-star, perhaps?

Could they have been discussing something other than MNiRC?

Discuss....

Edited to add:  Or not.

Shit.  Just shit.

"The 14-year-old freshman was taken out of class Wednesday and questioned for about 15 minutes by two Secret Service agents. The incident has upset her parents, who said the agents should have included them when they questioned their daughter."

"Assistant Principal Paul Belluomini said the agents gave him the impression the girl’s mother knew they were planning to question her daughter at school."

This just pisses me off to the n-th degree.

What was served by removing this girl from class and interrogating her without her parents knowledge?  The parent agreed that she should have been questioned, but why then?  What possible damage do they think she could've done?

True, it wasn't the smartest thing to do, but what 7th grader always thinks before they act?  Judging from what I heard at my son's middle school last year, there are plenty of loose cannon opinions floating around out there, waiting for place to land.

Watch what you say, people.  You never know when you might get a visit from the Men In Black.

Happy Anniversary

Eighteen years - almost half of my life with one person.  I doesn't seem possible, but here we are.

We didn't plan anything special, because we couldn't think of anything to do that doesn't involve a restaurant, and the kids have various activities today.  Maybe we'll go out for a movie tonight.  DH's suggestion was to get a good bottle of wine and drink it all. That's a possibility.

We're still recovering from our Disney World outing yesterday.  We went there in lieu of a birthday party for J.  Twelve hours. How many times can one ride Space Mountain in that time?  Oh, about nine...  It was a beautiful day, which meant everyone was there.  Along with their double wide strollers and lard carts.  I've got nothing against strollers, but when I see them in use for kids who look almost as old as J., I've got to wonder about the state of physical health for these kids.

To cap the evening off, we were treated to humongous hissy fit being thrown by a man (and I use the term loosely) at the tram station.  We didn't witness what had cause said hissy fit, but he actually started jumping up and down with both feet, at one point, while whining hysterically to a worker about something a woman did to him.  Cut to the woman, who is being held back by her BF/husband/friend, and she's crying foul about being spit on.  Personally, she could've whipped his ass from the looks of things.  The "man" also had two friends with him who were threatening her and calling her names, like "ho" "b*&ch" and, the zinger, "prostitute."  Ooooh, prostitute.  What a come-back.

I felt sorry for the cast member.  I know they don't pay them enough to wear the cheesy outfits that are required, and it certainly doesn't cover boorish behaviour like this, but he kept his cool and kept them away from each other.  Eventually security arrived, just as our tram did, so we didn't get to see how the drama ended.  But it definitely gave a whole new meaning to the "Happiest Place On Earth."

Because I'm truly clueless, I'll just pick something that has it all done for me. :-)

I'm sure it's not the only time I'll be changing over the next week or so.  I might even try ALL of them.  :-)

Could it be true??!

From the NY Post Entertainment section:

"The Roundabout Theatre Company is trying to put together a revival of Harold Pinter's "Old Times" starring Alan Rickman, Lindsey Duncan and Laura Linney - although sorting out the stars' schedules is proving a challenge."

I feel a major squeeeeeeee coming on!

Am I the only one who despises the Audrey Hepburn GAP ad on TV these days?

Well, a friend showed me this today and I cannot stop laughing! It'll give me something to think about should the real ad pop up during my TV viewing.

I'm still playing with the colors & layout. And I'm not too sure about that bubble wrap look up there with this red background. Sort of looks like condoms, don't you think?
